The Future

No one can be certain of the challenges or triumphs that will occur as a product of Title IX. The trend seems to indicate that despite its positive effects, and coaching roles being absent of females, female athletes will be discouraged from aspiring to have career paths related to sports. It is a sad reality that today’s female athletes are half as likely to have women head coaches as before the passage of Title IX in 1972, depriving them of female role models and the inclination to pursue careers in sports management, promotion, broadcasting, or related fields after ending their days as athletes. It is an overwhelming amount of irony that an act that has made such a positive difference in millions of lives has also had such a negative effect on millions of others.

It is also important to note the effect that Title IX has had on men's coaches. The act has been under much scrutiny by male athletic programs which create revenue and have the support from the public to continue. Due to the constraints that Title IX puts on schools to maintain appropriate ratios in accordance to the gender ratio that attends the school, many male sports programs have been cut.

The future of Title IX is uncertain at the least, whether it is to be supplemented positively or negatively in the near or far future, there is no denying the impact that Act has made in millions of lives.
